Another Virginia State Park in the news
Raymond R. "Andy" Guest, Jr. Shenandoah River State Park is named in honor of former delegate Andy Guest from Warren County. Located in Bentonville and bordering about 5 miles of the Shenandoah River, the park is relatively new.
Park Interpreter Jennifer Saik says, "the park opened in 1999, and it started out having just a primitive campground. But in the last two years, we've built eleven cabins, this visitor center, a new RV campground, so we're really growing."
The visitor center is beautiful with lots of exhibits noting the different animal species you can find in the park, plus some information about the history of the river. They also offer interpretive programs where you can get an up close look at snakes and turtles amongst other things.
