For the last two years Bear Creek Lake State Park has been renovating its trail system with funding provided by the 2002 General Obligation Bond Referendum. The park has added new trails, improved existing trails, built trail head kiosks, updated the signs on all trails, and constructed a pedestrian bridge.
The park now has over 6 miles of trails and provides access to 30 miles of trails in the surrounding Bear Creek Academy Conservation Corp, and volunteers.
The completion of the pedestrian bridge on Channel Cat Loop trail marks the culmination of the many improvements made in the last two years. Bear Creek Academy Conservation Corp under the supervision of Park Ranger Ed Sellers and Steve Owens constructed the bridge. The bridge replaces an old bridge that was unsafe for use.
