Do you want to stay near friends or family somewhere in the state and are you interested in learning new skills or trying a new outdoor experience?
If you answer is yes, then become a Virginia State Park Camp Host this summer.
Douthat State Park offers three camp host positions April through October. There is a 30-day to 90-day stay at the park for free in exchange for performing Camp Host duties. The park still has a few Camp Host positions available for the summer months and are taking applications to fill the void.
Camp Hosts help out in campgrounds during the peak season by greeting visitors and helping them get around the park, giving visitors information, maintaining the park campground and restrooms, and serving as a liaison between visitors and park rangers.
Hosts are selected on a first-come, first-served basis and must provide their own RV or camping equipment. The maximum RV length is 32 feet. Douthat State Park does offer water and electric hookups for the Camp Hosts, and an extra vehicle is strongly recommended for personal transportation. No salary or stipend is provided.
Douthat is one ofthe six original Civilian ConservationCorp. parksand offers a wide range of activities including: interpretive programs, a conference facility, stream fishing, a 50-acre lake stocked with trout, a swimming beach, boat and bicycle rentals, a gift shop, a camp store, hiking and biking trails, and a restaurant.
