Caledon State Park has dedicated an entire day for your kids to enjoy the park, as September 15th, 2012 is Youth Outdoor Day!
We've puttogether all kinds of things to do to keepthem busy while challenging their outdoor skills. Youth from ages 6 to 16 are invited to try their hand at archery, go geocaching, photographyopportunities and marksmanship, K-9 demonstrations and more.
Oh, andI almost forgot to mention, learn how to cluck like aturkey!I mean – we'll teach you about turkey calling and give demonstrations on that too.
Learn adventure skills, like archery!
Speaking of turkeys, autumn is in the air and that meanshayrides!
Explore trails, plusa newly opened scenic overlook from the cliffs of the Potomac River.
Search for hidden treasures, go geocache!
We have a playground, a visitor center with interactive exhibits, a kayak program (at 9 a.m. fee included) and lots more. So saddle up those kids, bring a cooler, have a picnic, ride your bikes, call some turkeys, or let us keep the little ones busy for a while as they engage in some outdoor skills. Either way, you'll be doing yourself (and the kids) some good by getting outside and enjoying natural surroundings of trees, fresh air and good wholesome fun.
This is aFREE event andsponsored by the Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Deer Hunters Association. Call the park (540) 663-3861 for more info and to register (so we can get a head count).
