Belle Isle State Park will host a “Make Your Own Household Cleaners” workshop on February 23 at the Visitor Center.Participants will learn how to save money and help the environment by making their own household cleaners with materials found easily at any grocery store.“Many cleaners contain ingredients that are toxic to children, pets, and households.All of the ingredients in the products we will make are proven safe and effective, “ according to Sheila Barnett , who will teach the workshop.There is a $10 material fee, which includes three products to take home and a recipe book for several cleaners.
The workshop is part of the Winter Warmers series at Belle Isle. This year’s theme involves ways that participants can improve the local environment.
Barnett is an environmental educator for the Virginia Master Naturalist and is the President of the Riverine Chapter in Hanover County.Reservations are required by calling (804) 462-5030.
Reservations for camping may be made through our reservation center by calling 800 933 7275. The center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but is closed all state holidays. You can also make reservations on line any time day or night. Reservations may be made up to eleven months in advance. Same day camping and cabin reservations, when sites are available, must be made through the reservation center.
