Thanks to weeks of fairly dry weather, we are going to be able to open another chunk of campsites at First Landing State Park. You may recall that most of the campground has been under water since the winter.
Most of the D and G loop sites will be open for reservations starting Friday, May 21st for Monday May 24 and later. We will be opening sites in loops B, E and F beginning May 28th also will also accept reservations for those sites beginning May 21st.
Some sites will still remain closed notably loops A and C as well as some sites in other loops. We will continue to evaluate the situation and open more as it is possible. Some sites may be closed the entire camping year.
The Park has also introduced a new registration procedure that will give park guests the flexibility of selecting their site from available sites within their reserved site type and loop. In the past, campers would leave the contact station with a specific site number and would have to come back if they wanted to switch to another site.
During the closure period, the park staff also adjusted some sites to accommodate larger equipment so some site types have changed. These changes plus having so many sites off line had created some technical problems related to our web reservation system. We are going to keep on line reservations closed at least through Memorial Day weekend to make sure all of the technical problems are behind us.
In the meantime, all First Landing reservations can only be made through the Reservation Center by calling 800-933-7275. The Reservation Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Center will be closed Monday, May 31st for Memorial Day.
