Summer is right around the corner and it’s that time of year again for Pocahontas State Park’s Pocahontas Premieres Summer Concert Series. This summer the Premieres are showcasing new bands and welcoming back old favorites. Back again this year is the Richmond Symphony, Cedar Creek, Page Wilson and Mattie Phifer. Several bands will be performing on the amphitheater stage for the first time such as Sterling Riggs, Robert Jospe and Casper. So bring your lawn chair and picnic basket and relax on the hill to the music of some of Richmond’s finest musicians.
Join us for the first concert of the season, a celebration of Armed Forces Day with a late afternoon performance by the 380th United States Army Reserve Band on Saturday, May 16th at 6 p.m. at the Heritage Amphitheater. Admission is FREE. A $5 parking fee applies. The 380th United States Army Reserve Band is stationed in Richmond and provides musical support for both military functions and community events by performing as a concert band, marching band, and jazz band. The band also has several specialized small ensembles. It is also an integral part of the 99th Regional Command.
Eleven concerts are scheduled for this summer. The next concert is the Richmond Symphony on Friday, May 29th at 7 p.m. Admission is FREE. The Heritage Amphitheater is located at Pocahontas State Park on 10301 State Park Road in Chesterfield County. Visit the Virginia State Parks website for the entire concert series calendar. Season passes are $40, advance tickets are $8, day of show tickets are $10 and kids 12 and under are free. Season pass and advance ticket holders get free parking day of show.
