An official press release of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
A public meeting to gather input for the development of the Biscuit Run State Park master plan will be Monday, June 6. The meeting will be 7-9 p.m. at the Albemarle County Administration Building, 401 McIntire Road, Charlottesville.
During the meeting, staff from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will present the draft park purpose statement, goals and objectives developed by the Biscuit Run Advisory Committee and DCR staff.
The 1,200-acre Biscuit Run site is in Albemarle County, between Route 20 and Old Lynchburg Road.
A master plan is written for each Virginia state park, reviewed every five years and serves as a guide for approximately 20 years. An advisory committee of local residents and representatives of different park user groups assists with master plan development. The June 6 meeting is the first of at least two public meetings on the master plan for Biscuit Run.
Following the meeting, DCR staff will conduct a full analysis of the site and determine amenities appropriate for the new state park. A second public meeting is planned for September.
