Area teachers are invited to bring your students to Douthat State Park to participate in the annual Earth Day Celebration on Friday, April 24, 2009.
All area schools are invited to participate in an Earth Day Celebration to learn more about the environment and volunteer at Douthat State Park.
Students will participate in an environmental education activity in the morning from 10 a.m. to noon, enjoy the park during lunch from noon to 1 p.m., and complete a stewardship project during the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Stewardship Virginia.
If classes need to leave before 2 p.m., but would still like to participate in the stewardship project special arrangements can be made.
There is no cost to participate and it is not too late to register your class. The registration deadline has been pushed back to Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Check-in takes place at the park office from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Earth Day Celebration will be held rain or shine.
