Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane, Virginia is known as a dog-friendly park. Visitors will often see four-legged canine hikers and picnickers enjoying (from the safety of a leash) the trails and open spaces the park provides. With so many of our local dogs bringing their humans to the park on a regular basis, it is only fitting that we honor them with a special event all their own. And so, we are happy to announce our Second Annual “Dog Days of Summer,” taking place on Saturday, July 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Bring your people out to Sky Meadows State Park on July 16 for "Dog Days of Summer"
Dogs can enjoy the day in the park with their human companions as they take in a variety of activities. Our event partners, the Middleburg Humane Foundation, will have an informational booth and demonstrations. here will be a microchip clinic, dog obedience class, pony rides for the human youngsters, raffles and, new this year, the “Bark in the Park” walk-a-thon.

“Bark in the Park” is a chance for canines and their two-footed friends to hike the beautiful Snowden Trail at Sky Meadows while raising money to support the Middleburg Humane Foundation. To get a “Bark in the Park” pledge sheet, visit the Foundation's website and print off the form, or stop by the park to pick one up. On the day of the event, walk-a-thon registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue to noon. The first 20 walkers with pledges will receive a special gift.

The event is open to the public, you don't have to bring a dog to attend. Bring in a bag or can of dog or cat food and receive a free raffle ticket. Please remember that all pets must be leashed at all times while in any Sky Meadows at 540-592-3556.
