To commemorate the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, Twin Lakes State Parkis hosting “An American Turning Point: The Civil War in Virginia” traveling exhibit
Museum Exhibit from the Virginia Historical Society on display at Twin Lakes
This engaging exhibit comes from the Virginia Historical Society, and chronicles the various points of views, and aspects of the Civil War; and how it affected the lives of those who lived through it.
- Travel back in time, and experience the war with insight into the minds of those who suffered and fought through the war, by experiencing original artwork, photographs, and quotes.
- Connect with your ancestors through a series of informational displays set up throughout two rooms at the Cedar Crest Conference Center.
- Relive the past through a series of perspectives often over looked during this time, such as African-American soldiers, citizens, and refugees.
“An American Turning Point: The Civil War in Virginia” exhibit will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. now through Friday, April 3, 2015.
Explore the American Civil War on display free at Twin Lakes State Park
It will be a self-guided tour, with staff on hand to answer any questions. The Virginia State Park’s traveling Civil War Trunk will also be available for display. This “Traveling Trunk” is full of interactive and authentic period clothing, supplies and accessories from the American Civil War.
Explore Living History
Entrance into the exhibit is free of charge, but if guests would like to explore the day use area of the park, a parking fee of $3 weekday or $4 weekend applies.
