Virginia State Parks has a new program designed for women looking to reduce stress, learn about nature and enjoy the great outdoors. The purpose of the wellness weekends is to provide educational and recreational opportunities that empower and enlighten women to sustain a healthy lifestyle by nurturing the mind, body and spirit. Our Women’s Wellness Weekends will be offered at various state parks across Virginia, the first at Hungry Mother State Park, Marion, Virginia, April 24-26, 2009. Westmoreland State Park, Montross, Virginia will offer the program in September.
Refresh and relax while enjoying a wonderful weekend in nature in the fellowship of other women. Women’s Wellness Weekends, which run three days, offer you the opportunity to get outside and take part in fun workshops about nature. You’ll arrive on Friday between 3 and 6 p.m., sign up for workshops and check in to your cabin. The program ends noon on Sunday but feel free to stick around and enjoy the park. Dinner on Friday and lunch and dinner on Saturday are covered. If you’d rather not spend the night, there’s a commuter option that covers meals and workshops but no overnight accommodations. The commuter program is $149. Depending on size of the cabin and the number of people sharing it, full packages with lodging run from $172 to $332. Share your stay with friends or make new ones.
This weekend is a perfect “getaway” for women of all ages where they can treat themselves to a weekend of pampering and fun activities. Hungry Mother is a picturesque setting where you can unwind and regain balance in your life. For the entire weekend, a wide variety of workshops, programs and outdoor activities will be offered. The only decision you’re need to make is what programs to attend. Participants will enjoy choosing between hiking, fly fishing, outdoor cooking, stress management, stargazing, natural skin care, outdoor photography, and nutrition just to name a few. But don’t worry, there will be lots of time to socialize, relax and have fun.
