Many interpretive programs and guided walks are offered Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Guided hikes, guest speakers/entertainers, evening programs, and special events are held in the park. Schedules are posted in the park weekly. Programs address astronomy, wildlife, geology, lake ecology, forestry and many others.
Marina Meeting Facility
The Marina Meeting Center has a snack bar with a grill, and a camp store selling souvenirs and necessities. The large meeting/convention room that can hold over 100 people, restrooms, and a kitchen. This waterfront facility also has a long dock that runs along the shoreline where boaters may tie up while they spend a few hours in the park.

Howe House (Visitor Center)
The Visitor Center is located in the Haven B. Howe house. It features exhibits that teach about the geology and biology of the park. The lake was formed by damming the New River, one of the oldest rivers in the world and one of few to flow north, especially in this part of the country. There are many displays on local wildlife, especially on the fish that abound in the lake. Right behind the house is a small gazebo that the park uses for programming.
