As the park recovers from the storm damage, Shanna Minarik, seasonal Naturalist at Westmoreland State Park, recorded this great video. I think the staff did a great job conveying the extent of the damage to our hearts but not our spirit.
After Irene, the remnants of two more hurricanes impacted the park causing mud slides and further delaying cleanup efforts. We hope to reopen November 18, 2011 but the campgrounds will stay closed until the March 1, 2012 seasonal opening and some cabins will be closed as repairs are made. After re-opening some trails may still be closed.
