Canoeing and kayaking are very popular activities offered by the Virginia State Parks. Volunteers and staff from Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
ACA Instructor and False Cape Chief Ranger Cameron Swain showed us an introductory video, discussed the importance of our training and led us into the water for hands on experience. Shedemonstrated proper stroke techniquesand critiqued us. After proving our padding ability, we had to go through self and assisted rescues. Students also participated in discussions on equipment, tides, water management, and transporting kayaks.
