In 2012 the Virginia Association for Parks celebrated its fifteenth anniversary of supporting public lands in Virginia and wrote a book to document their journey.
From a small group who gathered together in Fredericksburg with a desire to support Virginia's parks through volunteer efforts and working with legislators at the state and national levels to secure funding and protection for public lands, the VAFP has grown to a large organization that has helped us secure millions of dollars through grant funding and donations, increased awareness of the critical need for staff and funding to Virginia's legislators, and developed a cadre of dedicated volunteers across the state.
"Forging the Path" tells the story of this group and the individual Friends of Groups of our state parks and other public lands in Virginia.
This new book can be found in all of our Barnes and Noble.
