All 35 Virginia State Parks To Offer Special Great American Backyard Campout Programs
Great American Backyard Campout at Sky Meadows
Virginia’s state parks are offering campouts and camping skills programs and demos at all 35 locations across Virginia in honor of the Great American Backyard Campout on June 22, 2013. Twenty-five parks will offer overnight camping opportunities either in the parks’ campgrounds or in special areas dedicated to this event. The remaining parks will offer outdoor activities to help hone camping and outdoor recreation skills like campfire building, campfire cooking, storytelling, knot tying, and paddling programs.
“State Park campgrounds in Virginia and across the country offer families the perfect venue to learn about and experience camping in a safe environment,” says Joe Elton, Virginia State Parks Director and President of the America’s State Parks Foundation. “Camping is a gateway to a lifetime of outdoor recreation and family memories.”
