Virginia State Parks to present the XTERRA races in the parks!
Get ready, get set, go!
April 6, 2013, Marion, VA. Hungry MotherState Park is absolutely gorgeous in the spring. The April date is perfect for a cooler morning temperature.The trails are made up of amixture of everything. Expectsomeroots, low hanging limbs, downed trees, mud, tree stumps, elevation, especially on the long course, and whatever else Mother Nature wants to throw our way. This is a natural trailthrough a forest. We will begin on pavement for about a quarter mile for spacing.
There will be two races courses to choose from
XTERRA Short Courseis a six mile course. Designed for the trail runner who wants all the climbs, roots, rocks, twists, and water (in limited amounts) the short course is the first option.
XTERRA Long Courseis for the more adventurous, andis a seven and a half mile race. This course is designed more for the endurance athlete or the trail runner that wants to step up to a much more challenging run. This track will have longer climbs, more elevation, more roots, tougher water crossings, and at times more technical footing than on the shorter distance course. Both races will begin at 9:00 a.m. There will be no race day registration.

At Fairy Stone, there will also be two race courses

XTERRA Long Courseis an eight mile race. Designed for the endurance athlete or the trail runner that wants to step up to a much more challenging run. This track will have longer climbs, more elevation, more roots, tougher water crossings, and at times more technical footing than on the shorter distance course.
