Come on out for some special October Events atYork River State Park!
October at York River State Park will be filled with frightening and interesting images. Talented local photographers will present some of their best work at the first annual York River Images Photography Exhibit. Come and meet the artist and pick up a few tips. Some will even have pictures for sale. The exhibit will be held on Saturday, October 22nd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the event of rain, it will be held the following Saturday, October 29th.
A petting Zoo is part of York River State Park Harvest Days
Our Harvest Days will be the last two Saturdays of the month (October 22nd and 29th) from 3 to 7 p.m. We will have old fashioned games, a petting zoo, and other activities to celebrate the Fall along the river. Make a day of it and enjoy the colors from the Taskinas Creek Overlook or hike a trail or two. Come later for an evening of fun to lead you into the Ghost Trails Hayrides…
Famiyl fun on the Ghost Trails Hayride at York River State Park
The Halloween season wouldn't be the same without a hayride through the trails at night. The Ghost Trails Hayrides will be held on the last two Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights (October 20, 21,22 & 27, 28, 29) beginning at 7 p.m. Staff and volunteers will act out scenes of regional haunted tales from a colonial witch trial to a Civil War train crash. Bring your children ages 3 years and older.
Directions to York River State Park: From I-64, take the Croaker Exit 231B. Go north on Route 607 (Croaker Rd.) for one mile, then right on Route 606 (Riverview Rd.) about one and a half miles to the park entrance. Take a left turn into the park.
Drive Time : Northern Virginia, two to three hours; Richmond, one hour; Tidewater/Norfolk/Virginia Beach, one hour; Fredericksburg, two hours; Roanoke, five hours.
