Whether you're just starting out Geocaching or an experienced Cacher come out and enjoy some of James River State Park’s beautiful trails while finding any or all of our caches.
Geocaching is a family activity!
The “game of high-tech hide and seek” also known as geocaching is the hunt for finding a hidden object by means of GPS coordinates.
A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found the cache. Usually cache’s contain items for trading such as toys or trinkets.
This is what a typical cache might look like
With 12 caches at James River State Park (as of 2/1/12), it makes for a rewarding day to find them all.
If you don’t have your own GPS unit the park has some to rent that have the caches already loaded on them. GPS units are available at the Visitor's Center for $6 per half day and $10 for a whole day.
