Virginia State Parks’ goal for marketing efficiently is to find the best way to get the word out to our potential visitors for the least cost. We have been blessed with a great partnership with the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. We receive more than two times the advertising value for radio and television ads during the key vacation planning months.
We are also effectively using our e-newsletter to communicate with folks we already know are interested in visiting state parks and we are actively using web 2.0 social networking as outreach to people with an interest in the outdoors.
Our Enterprise Section is also searching for those likely Virginia State Park users by manning booths at RV shows, attending Health and Wellness Fairs, and, the newest plan is to expand to Women’s Shows. After all, most family travel planning is done by women. This year staff attended the Roanoke Women’s Show and we are also gearing up for the e-newsletter in exchange for an opportunity to win a free camping or cabin stay. Our distinctive booth set up shows visitors what we are all about by focusing on Virginia State Park activities and features. Be sure to drop by at our next event.
