This week we moved our blog to it's new home – our Virginia Outdoors website. Virginia Outdoors is a public/private partnership designed to highlight outdoor recreation in Virginia. If you already know about the website, you may already know that while our blog was hosted elsewhere, the posts were all duplicated on the Virginia Outdoors site. This is good news because when our other hosting site goes dark in about a week, all that information will still be at your fingertips.
New and exciting developments coming from Virginia Outdoors
The folks behind this website – Imperial Multimedia – also have the contract that maintains our Kiosks (aka Information Stations) in our parks. They developed the technology and thanks to a new 5 year contract we will be expanding the offering on the kiosks and will be moving toward an on line real time platform (depending on internet access at our parks).

The exciting news related to our blog is that they have created a widget so you can share our posts on your website or blog. There are three options listed but instructions to customise the feed and display a variety of other ways. You can find the code here.
Coming soon will be feeds for the widget customizable by outdoor recreation topic using the tags we designate for the posts. So your photography site would feature posts dedicated to that topic like you can find in the sections of the Virginia Outdoors site. See the Photography examples here.
We will also be releasing sponsorship packages for the website and kiosk soon. If you are interested in exposing your business to our 8 million visitors, national exposure, who you gonna call?
