All Hallow's Eve, October 31, used to be a time of trick or treating, costume parties, and good ghoststory telling. Alas, with the popularity of bloody horror movies, many Halloween events have become to frightening for children and a bit distasteful to adults.
The staff and volunteers at York River State Park will continue to serve a cauldron of fright and fun for all at the Ghost Trails Hayrides.
The spirits are active
York River State Park is taking reservations for the annual Ghost Trails Hayrides for October 18, 19, 20 & 25, 26, 27, 2012 beginning at 7 p.m.
Chief Ranger/Interpretive Manager Brad Thomas has added a couple of new scenes in our repertoire of re-enacted legendary ghost stories. Perhaps you will see an unexplained light at the train tracks or even attend the drowning of a witch. The lost souls you will encounter through the trails of Olde Taskinas Plantation have their roots from the York's headwaters, to the Colonial Capital, to the sea.
To travel on the trails of park poltergeist, you must make reservations. Phone (757) 566-3036 for more information and save a placefor historic horror for the whole family.
Directions to York River State Park: From I-64, take the Croaker Exit 231B. Go north on Route 607 (Croaker Rd.) for one mile, then right on Route 606 (Riverview Rd.) about one and a half miles to the park entrance. Take a left turn into the park.
