The Sixth Annual Foster Falls Festival of Lights at New River Trail State Park is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Foster Falls Village.
After New River Trail State Park called for community support to help with this special event the community answered through donations.
The park staff is working during the month of November to line the buildings of the old village at Foster Falls and the new park facilities with Christmas lights.
Bring the family to this holiday charity event and revel in the holiday spirit by enjoying the historic Foster Falls Village alight with more than 100,000 colorful lights.
Enjoy free horse-drawn wagon rides and antique tractor hayrides. Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available by Junior Leagans, Mike Collins, and Steve Winesett. Tractor drivers are volunteers David Rudy and Michael Allison.
Santa Clause will make an appearance for the children, and hot chocolate and coffee will be served by the Foster Falls Methodist Church.
There is no charge for the event when individuals bring a donation of either a canned food or an unopened toy. Canned food donations will go to the Agape Food Pantry of Wytheville. New, unopened toy donations go to Santa’s Workshop Department of Social Services.
The rain date for this event is schedule for Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.
New River Trail State Park offers programming throughout the year, and over the past several years one of the biggest events has become the Foster Falls Festival of Lights.
