The Sixth Annual Foster Falls Festival of Lights was a huge success at New River Trail State Park this past Saturday, Dec. 5.
The Festival of Lights had 18 volunteers help out on Saturday with at total of 2281 visitors who passed through the park with 197 children stopping by to visit Santa.
There was a total of 1,344 food items collected, which will be donated to the Agape Food Pantry of Wytheville, and 167 toys were collected and will be donated to Santa’s Workshop Department of Social Services.
New River Trail State Park would like to thank Hillsville Elementary and Laurel Elementary Schools for making Christmas tree ornaments.
Horse-drawn wagon rides were available by Junior Leagans, Mike Collins, and Steve Winesett and tractor drivers were volunteers David Rudy and Michael Allison.
Hot chocolate and coffee was served by the Foster Falls Methodist Church.
A big thank you also goes out to all the community support for the event and donations received to keep the event alive.
