Come on back to the swamp with Page Wilson with Reckless Abandon and his special guests the mother and daughter band, Marna & Macy, and Li’l Ronnie and the Grand Dukes on Saturday, August 22nd at 6 p.m. at the Heritage Amphitheater at. “Reckless Abandon” is the unique, creative music ensemble gathered together by Page Wilson to present his distinctive approach to live performance. It is not only the name of the group, but also the approach to the music; to play with “reckless abandon.”
Rooted in the blues, folk, bluegrass, and country traditions of their native Virginia soil, the performances are spontaneous and original; yet with the professional musical expertise to go anywhere with a song, and take their audience along with them. Marna & Macy are a mother-daughter duo that evolved from the The Marna Bales Band. The band became hometown favorites and has shared the stage with luminaries such as Sara Evans, Montgomery Gentry, Charlie Daniels, and Delbert McClinton. The beginning of Macy’s involvement with the band began one day when Macy casually agreed to show up at the studio and record some background vocals for a song her mom was recording. Jody Boyd, Marna’s husband and band member, was so excited when he realized how Macy and her mom’s voices blended like magic.
Li’l Ronnie and the Grand Dukes are a critically acclaimed touring band and play anywhere from funky little blues bars, where the music was invented to major blues festivals, including a swinging, jumpin’ night as headline artist at New York’s prestigious Lincoln Center. They have earned the reputation as an exciting must see band.
